A family has been left heartbroken after their father died suddenly in his sleep while they were on a holiday in Thailand.
Central Coast father Cameron Degan, 44, was found unresponsive by his wife, Kylie, at their hotel in the early hours of Sunday.
Ms Degan said her husband passed away in his sleep, and she worked on him for an hour before paramedics arrived, but he could not be saved.
“It’s taking every bit of strength to post this,” Ms Degan wrote on social media.
“On our Thailand holiday, I lost the love of my life, my best friend, and Charlotte and Jack have lost the best dad in the world,” she said.
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help bring Mr Degan’s body back to Australia, which has raised more than $35,000 for the family.
Ashley Green, who is organising the fundraiser, said Mr Degan’s sudden death had devastated his family and left them heartbroken.
“They have now returned home to Australia and are beginning the difficult journey of grieving and rebuilding life without him,” Ms Green said.
“We are fundraising to support them through the significant financial challenges resulting from this tragedy, including the costs associated with Cameron’s repatriation to Australia, funeral arrangements and other immediate expenses.”
Ms Green said any donation would help ease the financial burden on Mr Degan’s family so they could focus on healing and being together during an incredibly difficult time.
