Claremont serial killer Bradley Robert Edwards’ Kewdale home secretly put up for sale after arrest

The home where Claremont killer Bradley Edwards lived most of his double life — and where he was finally arrested after 20 years of hiding in plain sight — has quietly been put up for sale. The unremarkable three-bedroom, one-bathroom house in Acton Avenue, Kewdale, had been where Edwards and his second wife lived much of their married life, after buying it in July 2000 for $135,000. It was the property that became ground zero for Operation Macro in December 2016, after two decades of dead ends in the Claremont serial killings investigation. Heavily armed police raided the house three days before Christmas at 7.40am. A video of Mr Edwards’ arrest, shown in court during the trial, revealed boxes stacked against the walls of passageways, bags on the floor, peeling paint and little in the way of furnishings. “It’s not the best house,” Mr Edwards told detectives before being taken away for questioning. The property was searched top to bottom over the next two days, in the hopes of finding more clues in the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon, and the disappearance of Sarah Spiers. Since then it has lain idle and uninhabited, becoming a macabre true-crime curio for some. Now it could become a potential investment for someone — but the real-estate marketing is carefully avoiding placing the notorious full address online. And no sale sign has been posted on the block, so far. The property ad also insists that while the 794sqm block of land will be sought after, Edwards’ former house will have to go. “Bowl me over and start again,” it states. “Location is fantastic, block size is great, but the home is well beyond redemption. “It has to be knocked down and cannot be lived in and is to be sold in a ‘as is’ condition. This suits someone wanting to build their dream home on a full sized lot ... in what is considered a good location.” Expressions of interest in the large block will close later this month. It is understood that some of the proceeds of the sale will go towards the extraordinary legal costs stumped up by taxpayers to defend the double killer.
