Even Kevin Bloody Wilson has been left struggling for words after the death of country music legend Dolly Parton.
The WA-based comedy icon shared a photograph of himself with Parton alongside a short but emotional tribute to the 80-year-old star.
“This one hurts 💔,” he wrote.
“We will always love you Dolly x.”
The photograph shows Wilson sitting beside the country superstar and strumming a guitar. Parton is all smiles while leaning in and playing a banjo.
The simple message was a striking departure from the bawdy humour and outrageous songs that have made Wilson one of Australia’s best-known comedy performers.
Parton died in Nashville on Tuesday, aged 80, after a brief battle with cancer.
Her death has prompted an extraordinary outpouring of grief from the music and entertainment worlds, with tributes flowing from celebrities including Paul McCartney, Beyonce, Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Julia Roberts.
Parton’s family are planning a small, private funeral service.
