Soccer superstar Sam Kerr, Kirstie Mewis reveal details of extravagant Perth wedding, share stunning photos

Perth soccer superstar Sam Kerr and her new wife Kristie Mewis have opened up about their big day as they shared the first official photos from their wedding.
In an interview with Vogue, the couple said they wanted the wedding — which took place at Villa Dionysus in the Swan Valley — to be simple, warm and fun, with Mewis describing the day as, “exactly what we imagined and more”.
The couple told Vogue they chose the venue — a Lake Como inspired property — because it felt “very homey and welcoming”, adding they wanted their guests to feel loved at the ceremony.
The Matildas captain shared two photos from her Perth wedding to Instagram on Saturday afternoon, with the first picture showing the newlyweds sharing a kiss, with Kerr dressed in a black tuxedo and Mewis wearing a beaded gown and veil.
Mewis revealed Kerr opted for a tuxedo because she “didn’t want anything flashy, just something classic and comfortable”.

The second photo shows the celebrations in full swing, with Kerr carrying her bride on her shoulders as Mewis raises a champagne glass in a second, shorter dress.

Kerr was photographed leaving Crown Towers ahead of the New Year’s Eve ceremony on Wednesday, accompanied by her family, and carrying a baby bottle for the her seven-month-old son, Jagger, who played a special role on the day with Kerr walking him down the aisle.
On her podcast, Mewis had previously revealed the moment would be an emotional one, saying she would “sob” when it happened.
Mewis also previously confirmed 120 people would be in attendance, including teammates from the Matildas soccer team and the United States national team.
The couple have been together since 2021, announced their engagement in 2023, and welcomed their son Jagger in May.
