Perth dancer Faith Ward one step closer to achieving dream of being a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader in Texas
Perth dancer Faith Ward has always dreamed of wearing a blue crop top, tiny hot pants, and white cowboy boots, which make up the iconic outfit of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
And now, the 22-year-old — known as Flexi Faith — is one step closer to securing a spot on the famous cheerleading team, dubbed America’s Sweethearts, after her application to audition in Texas was accepted.
DCC represent the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys team and has been providing hype on the sidelines in their blue and white star-spangled uniforms since the 1960s in front of more than 90,000 fans at every home game.
The eye-catching athletes went viral following a Netflix series — renewed for a second season — that gives a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to make the team, including pulling off an impressive kick line to ACDC’s Thunderstruck song.
Ms Ward said to be a part of gold-standard cheerleading had been a “long-term dream” after growing up dancing and shaking pom poms ever since she could walk.

That all changed when a DCC staff member reached out to Ms Ward personally and encouraged the talented dancer to apply.
The intense application process involves three rounds that require candidates to send in dancing photos and videos, including a clip that requires them to learn specific choreography.
Within a few days, Ms Ward couldn’t believe her eyes when she opened an email from the team’s director, Kelli Finglass, saying she had successfully scored a solo audition that would take place in front of judges at the DCC headquarters.
Ms Ward will join hundreds of aspiring cheerleaders on June 14, where they will compete for a chance at owning a pair of shiny cowboy boots.
The lucky ones to join the team are set to be announced in July.
“No matter the outcome, it’ll be amazing to be part of the experience, and making it this far is already just incredible,” Ms Ward, who born with double jointed hips, said.
Originally from New Zealand, Ms Ward moved to Australia at the age of 10, which was also when she started considering a career in dancing.

At 18, she began working as a professional dancer — which included gigs on cruise ships — but now has her mind set on becoming a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
Former DCC members Angela Nicotera Brown and Jinelle Esther are also from Australia and cheered with the team for five years.
