BYO — it has to be one of the favourite foodie acronyms.

Not only do those three magic letters help those still feeling the pinch after the pandemic keep some cash in their wallets, but it also allows wine connoisseurs bring along their favourite drop to dinner.

Share a bottle at one of our favourite Perth establishments offering BYO, with a variety of cuisines ready to be matched with a fizzy pet-nat or organic small-batch drop.

Eamon Sullivan and Scott Bridger’s Middle Eastern restaurant is now offering BYO on Wednesday nights, and won’t even charge you a corkage fee — pretty nice guys, we reckon. If you’ve not yet been to the Mt Hawthorn hotspot, expect to find mouthwatering creations like zataar fried chicken with aleppo mayo, pickled cucumber and curry leaf, Persian duck gnocchi and a range of fresh, zesty sides on the menu.

Lady of Ro

Summer evenings sitting out on the side walk of Rokeby Road is just one of the many things to love about Lady of Ro. A fave amongst BYO aficionados, this Greek-style spot in Subiaco is infused with Mediterranean flavours and the seasonal menu is always an exciting lucky dip. Expect to find local seafood, vegetables done in myriad ways and some of the best bread and olives you’ll find in town. Booking by text message and grab a bottle of red.

Nolita

Well-established in Claremont, it may come as a surprise to some that Nolita offers BYO wine on Mondays and Tuesdays with no corkage. Which works perfectly, because its Italian menu offering tastes even better when matched with a delicious drop. Traditional is best here, from pappardelle with braised lamb shoulder, mixed mushrooms and minted goats curd and pumpkin and ricotta ravioli with sage, raisins, burnt butter and Grana Padano among the stand-outs.

Monsterella

Wembley’s neighbourhood pizza joint Monsterella is very popular, and with good reason. The pies here are soft, chewy and the perfect amount of charred, and the menu is extensive — but we secretly think it doesn’t get much better than their famed margherita. They also offer up pasta, salads and kids meals, and make their own gluten-free bases, too. BYO is $1 per beer or $5 per wine bottle. Warm nights are best spent at an alfresco table.

The Prophet

The Prophet is a mainstay of the Victoria Park dining strip, and we love that the menu is a constant. It all begins with the famed complimentary garlic dip, pita and pickles before diners can take their pick from Lebanese delights like tabouleh, falafel, hummus, ladies fingers, chicken and rice and fool beans. Or, try a bit of everything with one of the mixed platters, which are so big you’ll have enough for lunch the next day.

Juicy Bao Bao

Chomp down on delicious dumplings at one of Northbridge’s tastiest, Juicy Bao Bao. The sister premises of Authentic Bites Dumpling House, this place is known for its soup-filled parcels of yumminess and claypot rice plus other authentic Shanghai eats. It’s BYO and open every day for lunch and dinner.
