Railways face a season-defining clash against reigning premiers Royals when the Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade competition returns to action on Saturday.

After a fortnight off because of country week, the run to finals will begin with two important matches in round 10 that will help shape the makeup of the ladder.

The Tigers and Lions will do battle on Turf East and there will be plenty on the line for Tigers if they are to surge into finals contention in the 2021-22 season.

They currently sit on the bottom of the ladder, 19 points out of finals contention with six rounds to play.

The Tigers will need to win the majority of their final five 50-over matches to leap up the ladder and play finals.

The Lions sit second on the ladder and a win against the Tigers would push them further clear from the third-placed Manypeaks, if they lose their round 10 fixture.

Peaks will face ladder leaders Mt Barker at Turf North, and a win to the Bulls would almost ensure they stich up top spot and a direct qualification into the A-grade grand final.

The Bulls are 19 points clear on top currently while Peaks are 18 points clear in third place over Collingwood Park, who have the round 10 bye.
