Albany detectives appealing for information as investigations continue into suspicious Bremer Bay bushfire
Albany detectives are appealing to the public for information as they investigate the cause of a ”possibly suspicious” fire that started in Bremer Bay last Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to a fire in bushland on Ridgeway Drive about 8.30am on January 14, and firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, which was contained and controlled last Thursday.
Police were also on scene to investigate, and are now calling on the public for assistance, with the cause of the blaze deemed possibly suspicious.
The fire was contained and brought under control, and eventually extinguished on Friday afternoon.
A spate of small bushfires, mostly started by lightning, kept local firefighting crews on their toes on Friday, but the majority were quickly extinguished.
One fire still remained out-of-control in the adjacent Fitzgerald River National Park on Tuesday, with the blaze burning through 40,000ha since it ignited on Friday.
Anyone with any information relating to the Ridgeway Drive fire in Bremer Bay is asked to contact Crime Stoppers online at crimestopperswa.com.au or by phone on 1800 333 000.
