Albany will be the first regional area in WA to get access to the latest Tennis Australia program, Females in Tennis Development Camp.

Female tennis players in the Lower Great Southern region will be some of the first juniors in Australia to take part in the camp.

Former women’s world tour member Emma Hayman, Tennis Australia’s talent operations manager in WA, will head up the event run on October 9 at Lawley Park Tennis Club, from 10am to 5pm. Tennis Australia talent program coach Marisa Gianotti will also be part of the camp.

The event is free for any females aged nine to 14 in the Lower Great Southern region already playing tennis or in a coaching program.

Albany will be the first of 25 camps being rolled out across Australia.

Lower Great Southern Tennis Association president Les Bairstow said this was a fantastic opportunity for young female players.

“The association is thrilled that Tennis Australia has chosen Albany to be the first to host this dynamic new concept,” he said.

“We’ve been working very closely with Tennis Australia to secure this event.

“Tennis in Albany is on the verge of entering an exciting new era and Tennis Australia have recognised this by offering the event to us first.

“This will be a rare opportunity for our nine to 14-year-old girls to meet a former world-ranked female player and also have an informative and fun day out.”
