Denmark’s Ocean Beach precinct in final sprint to reopening in mid-November after short delay

Denmark’s Ocean Beach is set to reopen next month, with the highly anticipated recreational precinct finally ready to welcome the community back after transformative upgrade works.
The reopening is set for November 19, pushed back from late October so key works at the site were fully completed.
“We thank our community members for their co-operation and understand their anticipation for the reopening of Ocean Beach, but this slight delay ensures that the site is safe, functional and welcoming for everyone,” shire president Kingsley Gibson said.
The Shire of Denmark began construction on the precinct in 2024, rebuilding the sea wall that had started crumbling due to high swells and erosion and had become a public safety issue.
When completed, the precinct will include public areas, beach access, a new kiosk, and upgraded clubrooms for the Denmark Surf Life Saving Club.
The new kiosk has been completed and will be put out to tender to find an operator, with the facility expected to start operating early in 2026. Meanwhile, final touches are being put on the clubrooms, with the surf lifesaving club ready to move back in.
In the coming weeks, contractors will continue working on the precinct to get it ready for the grand reopening, including installing reticulation and turfing, beach stairs, concrete paths and a disabled parking bay.
Upgrades to the beach access road are also on the list before the reopening date, and Cr Gibson reminded the community to continue to be patient and stay away from the site while the final stages of construction took place.
“We ask for the community’s continuing co-operation in staying clear of the site, so our contractors can safely complete the final stages, uninterrupted,” he said.
