IN PICTURES: Albany 7s provide a winning weekend as 1100 players from 77 rugby teams try, try and try again

More than 1000 players and probably twice as many spectators came to Albany for the AFGRI Albany 7s, the biggest sevens event in WA.
Launched by Albany Storm president Paul Osborne in 2017, the event has grown massively, attracting 77 teams and 1100 competitors this time around.
Held on October 11 and 12 on the pitches at North Road, the event catered for teams aged from under-eight to under-15.
There was some local success, too, with the Storm winning the under-14 cup final and the under-15s reaching the final of the shield.
Rugby WA regional manager Jason Marrable said the event was a community favourite which helped clubs develop their young players.
“They can test their skills against the metro clubs and get into some high quality rugby,” he said.
