Joshua Regan Noakes: Albany man admits to machete armed robbery, stealing phone from woman in Spencer Park

An Albany man has pleaded guilty to stealing a phone from a woman while armed with a machete in Spencer Park last year. Joshua Regan Noakes pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday. The 23-year-old was armed with a machete, striking a table with it, when he stole the phone from the woman on November 11. Noakes’ defence lawyer Elizabeth Hamilton requested that her client be listed on the District Court’s September sentence list, and that a pre-sentence report be ordered closer to the date. Armed robbery is an indictable offence and faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Noakes will next appear in Albany District Court on September 3.
