I fully agree with the various correspondents who are against e-scooters as mentioned in the Albany Advertiser on November 23. Why should the majority of people who live here be subjected to the ugly monstrosities which spoil the landscape. Isn’t Albany a winner on several occasions for being a Tidy Town? They are also downright dangerous when ridden badly. Read Dylan Caporn’s article in the Albany Advertiser on August 24 on various mishaps that have occurred and how the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River binned the program. I understand that at least one of them is Singapore-owned, so presumably any profit goes there, not here. Surely an electric bike would be far more useful? It may be more expensive to begin with, but it would cover costs in the long term and the rider could go anywhere and not be restricted to the e-scooter app. Letters to the editor must contain the author’s full name, address and daytime contact number.
