Shire of Denmark rangers are appealing for information after a cyclist was bitten on the thigh by an off-leash dog on the Nornalup Rail Trail last week.

Rangers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident that occurred about 4.35pm on Friday, August 15 on the rail trail near Zimmerman Street and Blackburn Street in Denmark, to come forward.

The shire says a cyclist was bitten on the left thigh after being approached by two tan-coloured American Staffordshire-type dogs who were off-leash.

Three people accompanied the dogs — a woman with black hair aged in her 50s, a man of similar age with wispy brown hair and a beard, and a teenage girl about 16-years-old with long fair hair.

The shire requests the owner of the dogs to come forward, as well as anyone who may have seen the incident and could help identify the dogs and their owner.

Anyone with information should contact the Shire of Denmark rangers on 9848 0300 or send an email to info@denmark.wa.gov.au.
