Decades of dedication to Albany Agricultural Society’s horticultural section were celebrated at a special morning tea honouring three long-serving contributors.

Arthur and Shirley Gorman, and Susan Radamanthos were recognised for their years of service and commitment to the horticultural community this month.

The guests of honour shared stories spanning 35 years of involvement, reflecting on friendships they had formed, memorable shows and the dedication that has helped the horticultural section flourish over many decades.

Their valuable contributions were acknowledged by current AAS president Erika Henderson, while their colleague Gary Wilson also shared stories and words of appreciation for their years of commitment and service.

The Albany Floral Art Group presented a floral arrangement to the honoured guests, while president of the horticultural section Wendy Minchin shared a heartfelt speech recognising their dedication and contribution to the Albany Agricultural Show community over many years.

Past president and special guest Pam Leamon also attended the morning tea, catching up and sharing memories from the past years.

Councillor of the new committee Vicki Savage thanked everyone for attending and the continued support and enthusiasm shown towards the horticultural section.

The new committee is now made up of members from the Two Rivers Garden Club and are excited to be part of this year’s Albany Agricultural Show as part of the bicentenary year.

With the bicentenary year in mind the horticultural community encouraged everyone to get involved and embrace this year’s theme Plant it, Nurture it, Show it!

More details regarding entry categories schedules and prizes for the 2026 Albany Agricultural Show will be released in the coming months.
