Young hikers thrilled to see snow on Bluff Knoll in the fourth report of snowfall this winter on the peak
Trekkers on one of WA’s most famous peaks were delighted after being treated to snow — the fourth time it has fallen on Bluff Knoll this winter.
Albany resident Kate Marwick on Sunday braved the trip up the Stirling Range mountain in the Great Southern with her daughters Summer, 10, and eight year-old Poppy Brown, and their friends Saffron, 11, and Penny Waters, 8.
Ms Marwick, who grew up near the Porongorups and is a regular Bluff Knoll hiker, said the weekend’s snow was the “best one she’s seen”.

“It was absolutely amazing,” she said. “We were probably about halfway from the summit when it started hailing and snowing.
“It was the first time seeing snow for all four of them and they were shrieking with joy.
“They threw a bit around but were just so excited.”
The first snow flurries of 2025 were reported on Bluff Knoll on July 20.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said this winter had reported the highest amount of snowfall since 2021, when five were recorded.
