An 18-month-old boy tests positive to Covid after mother enters state without valid pass
An 18-month-old baby boy is the latest person to have tested positive to Covid-19 in Tasmania.
The infant travelled to Hobart from Melbourne with his mother last Thursday and returned a positive test on Sunday while in hotel quarantine.
When the pair arrived, authorities found the woman did not have a valid entry pass and were taken to a medi-hotel.
Deputy Director of Public Health Julie Graham said both the baby and his mother were transferred to the Community Case Management Facility following the test result.
“The child is well,” she said.
“The risk to the community is considered low.”
Hobart Airport has been listed as a low-risk exposure site where those who attended between 8.25pm and 9.50pm on Thursday, November 18 must monitor for symptoms and get tested if they develop.
