A popular frozen snack has been stripped from the supermarket shelves after an unsuspecting consumer found plastic and metal in their food.

McCain Australia issued an immediate nationwide recall of their 400g Cheese & Bacon Pizza Pockets once they were made aware of the discovery.

The popular pizza snacks have been sold at Woolworths, Coles, and independent retailers, including IGA nationally and online.

The microwavable pizza pockets should not be eaten, and instead can be returned to the supermarket they were purchased from for a full refund.

McCain batch numbers recalled

Consumers are told to look out for 400g packets with the batch code “1005481714” and best before dates marked “October 2026 289”, “October 2026 290”, and “October 2026 291”.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand have warned that consuming the product may cause injury or illness.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” they said in a statement.
