Adam Reynolds was despondent and coach Kevin Walter’s extremely disappointed after yet another trip to Melbourne ended in injury and defeat for the Brisbane Broncos.

Reynolds revealed he felt hamstring soreness early in the first half before a kick just before the break ended his night at AAMI Park with scans to determine his immediate playing future.

The Brisbane captain fought back tears in the sheds at halftime and after the 34-32 loss couldn’t be sure how bad the injury was.

“My hamstring tightened up in that first half,” he said.

“I felt it early on in the game and it got worse. I was trying to get through to halftime, sort of see where I was at and then,, seen a bit of space on the short side.

“So I tried to take (the kick) and it didn’t feel too good.

“I don’t know how bad it is, we’ll get scans and go from there.”

Reynolds might want to make himself unavailable for all future trips to AAMI Park after injuring his neck at the same venue last season.

The Broncos scored five tries and had the lead until Storm Scored three late tries including two in the final five minutes to secure the win. Brisbane haven’t won in Melbourne since 2016.

Walters was ready to point the finger at defensive lapses “across the whole field” declaring it’s too hard to score six tries against Melbourne Storm.

“You can’t expect to win a game of footy when they score that many tries,” he said.

“I mean, there’s plenty of effort and I can’t fault them there with their effort and we lost Adam at halftime. So that was a pretty big disruption for us.

“But we just, just weren’t quite there defensively tonight. and that’s the most annoying thing because there’s lots of effort.

““I feel sorry for them in there because so much effort went in, you know, and just a couple of little sloppy areas and concede points and against a team like the Storm who are always at you

“We need to learn from this tonight and certainly be better moving forward.”
