Applications Open for Round 2 of the Growing Regions Program

Community resources, councils, and public amenities across the Pilbara and Kimberley region can now apply for significant funding through the second round of the Growing Regions Program. The program offers funding between $500,000 and $15 million to local government entities and incorporated not-for-profit organizations. The funds are aimed at capital works projects that enhance community liveability, bolster social cohesion, and improve local amenities across Australia’s regions. This initiative replaces the Coalition’s successful Building Better Regions Fund. Member for Durack Melissa Price highlighted the importance of renovated government facilities across the Kimberley and Pilbara region. “The importance of infrastructure funding in my electorate of Durack cannot be understated,” Ms Price said. However, the MP practised cautious optimism regarding the Growing Regions Program, claiming payments for round one of the initiatives have been delayed. “Hopefully this new funding round is delivered in a timelier fashion than Round 1 of Growing Regions, where unfortunately, the payments are still in limbo,” she said. Ms. Price praised the positive impact of new infrastructure funded by the previous Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund on the community. “I have seen fantastic results in Durack from the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund commitment of $1.38 billion across nearly 1,300 projects, and I look forward to seeing the successful outcome for more Durack communities with Round 2 of the Growing Regions Program.” The Growing Region Program’s objectives include: To apply, applicants must complete an online eligibility checklist to confirm their project’s readiness and suitability.
