Beaches across Broome have been shut down for at least the next 24 hours following a crocodile sighting at Broome Port on Thursday.
The 2.5m saltwater crocodile was spotted at the port at 12.30pm, according to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Kimberley Park and Wildlife Service
The Shire of Broome has now closed Entrance Point, Simpsons Beach, Demco Beach and Town Beach to the public for the at least the next 24 hours.
Parks and Wildlife Service rangers are patrolling the area.
Crocodile sightings can be reported to the DBCA Broome Parks and Wildlife Service on 9195 5500.
