Tourism, infrastructure and community development have dominated talks between the Shire of Broome and remote communities on the Dampier Peninsula as the Shire embarked on a two-day listening tour.

Led by Shire president Chris Mitchell and chief executive Sam Mastrolembo, councillors and executive staff travelled to Ardyaloon, Middle Lagoon and Lombadina to discuss a range of local issues, including tourism infrastructure, land use, road access, waste management and community safety.

Mr Mitchell said the trip was about listening, learning and continuing to build strong relationships with Peninsula communities.

“These conversations help guide our priorities and ensure local voices are heard at every level of government,” he said.

The shire welcomed feedback and will continue working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to support positive outcomes across the region.

Following the visit, the Shire is moving forward on local priorities and working to connect communities with funding opportunities and government resources.
