Ellenbrook Secondary College: 10 boys in total charged over attack that injured 15yo boy, forced lockdown

Police have charged four more teenagers over an alleged stabbing attack that plunged Ellenbrook Secondary College into lockdown. A total of 10 boys have now been charged over the incident, which occurred when a gang of teens approached two boys as they left the college about 3pm on Monday. A 15-year-old boy was attacked by the group, receiving a 1cm wound to his arm and a 1cm wound to the right side of his head. Police allege some of the boys were armed with edged weapons, including an axe. The initial six boys charged over the ordeal were arrested within hours of the attack, with CCTV capturing one of the those arrests in a nearby street. On Wednesday, Midland detectives charged a further four boys. Three of the boys are aged 16, five of them are 14 and there is a 15 year-old and a 13 year-old. They each face offences of unlawful wounding, assault occasioning bodily harm, being armed to cause fear and disorderly behaviour. Some of the boys were also charged with carried or possessed an edged weapon. The Perth Children’s Court on Tuesday, during hearings for three of the accused, was told the incident was prompted by online abuse, causing a gang “called South Side to travel north of the river and go to the school”. The court was told that CCTV footage was obtained showing several members of the group carrying weapons, mainly knives. Prosecutor Patrick Cavagin said a group of about 11 teenagers approached the pair before the alleged offending occurred. The 15-year-old accused offender was granted bail on a strict 24-hour curfew despite bail being opposed by the prosecution on Tuesday. Magistrate Alana Padmanabham said the boy had a “qualified” right to not be kept in custody. Police are continuing to investigate further offenders. The school was plunged into lockdown for one hour and 20 minutes after the incident. The injured 15-year-old boy has been discharged from hospital.
