CCTV footage of a car roaming Sydney's western suburbs around the time Adnan Salameh was gunned down more than a year ago may help solve his homicide investigation.

The 30-year-old died after being shot in the leg and shoulder in front of his girlfriend at his Tregear home in the early hours of November 30, 2020.

Detectives identified a "vehicle of interest" - a light-coloured 2001-2005 model Toyota Camry sedan with customised wheels - seen travelling around the same time of the shooting in the newly released surveillance recording.

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said investigators believe identifying the owner or occupants of the Camry could be the breakthrough they need to solve the crime.

"We're confident someone will recognise this vehicle and may remember seeing it in the Tregear area around the time of Adnan's death", the homicide squad commander said on Monday when releasing the CCTV footage.

Det Supt Doherty described the Camry "loitering" in the area before the shooting as "suspicious behaviour". He noted it sped straight after the "callous and brutal" killing believed to be over a small amount of debt owed.

The victim's family also echoed the same calls urging the public to help police track down his assailants.

Adel Salameh, Adnan's father, spoke of the family's grief in a brief family statement issued on Monday.

"We miss Adnan very much and our lives have not been the same since we lost him.

"We loved him dearly and our hearts are broken forever".
