A major emergency response is underway in Perth’s northern suburbs after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the busy coastal stretch of West Coast Drive in North Beach.
The crash occurred about 11.15am near the intersection of West Coast Drive and Malcolm Street, involving a white Ford Ranger Ute and a pedestrian.
Police, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, and St John WA crews are at the scene.
Concerns are growing for the pedestrian’s condition, with the extent of their injuries yet to be confirmed.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, which sustained significant damage in the crash, is assisting police with their investigation.
WA Police confirmed officers were responding to a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, but said inquiries were ongoing and further details were not yet available.
The incident is expected to cause significant traffic disruptions along the popular beachside route, with lanes blocked in both directions while emergency services work at the scene and investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Motorists and pedestrians are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
