Ellenbrook: teenage boy charged after allegedly assaulting 54-year-old man and leaving him unconscious

A teenager has been charged over an alleged coward attack in which a man was struck from behind and knocked unconscious, leaving him in hospital with serious injuries. Emergency services were called to Main Street near Commercial Road, in Ellenbrook at about 8.30pm on Saturday following reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people. Police and St John WA attended and found an unconscious 54-year-old male who had allegedly been assaulted and knocked to the ground, hitting his head on the pavement. He was taken to St John of God Hospital Midland with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police allege a member of the group struck the man in the back of the head before leaving him on the ground and running off. Officers patrolling a nearby Christmas Pageant located a 13-year-old boy, who was taken into custody. The boy from Woodbridge has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. He’s due to face Midland Children’s Court on January 7. A 28-year-old woman from Wongan Hills was also arrested at the scene, police allege she was in breach of her bail conditions.
