Notorious bikie Troy Mercanti appears on Facebook wearing full Mongols gang colours after court win

Days after Troy Mercanti won the right in court to associate with other bikie gang members, he let the world know he was an outlaw — and proud of it. Mercanti posted a picture of himself in Mongol gang colours on his Facebook page earlier this month after posting several other Mongol images days earlier. The pictures are the clearest indication yet the 53-year-old — forbidden from hanging out with bikies until earlier this month— has well and truly immersed himself back into the bikie underworld. The West Australian can reveal the newly created Facebook page was updated with the Mongols imagery on January 6, just over an hour after a magistrate lifted bail conditions which had previously banned Mercanti from associating with bikies. As revealed exclusively on the front page of The West this month, Mercanti was successful in changing his bail conditions in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court so that he can now go to the pub and hang out with outlaw motorcycle gang members. The bail conditions had been enforced after Mercanti was charged with 73 breaches of a strict post-sentence supervision order put in place after his release from prison in 2019. In court it was revealed the supervision order, which also prevented him from associating with bikies and entering licensed premises, had expired but his bail conditions still adhered to these rules. In the portrait posted on January 10, two “Mongols Nation” tattoos can be seen on his arms covering old tattoos of his former gang the Coffin Cheaters. The Mongols vest has many patches on it, one of which reads: “Mongols, Australia, Perth Mother Chapter.” A “1 per cent” logo can also be seen on the vest as can the words “So Cal”, understood to be a reference to southern California where the gang was founded in 1969. Mercanti is also wearing a Mongols hat in the picture. A “Lifetime Mongols Forever” patch is also clearly visible on the vest. The latest pictures are sure to draw the ire of police who have spent years investigating Mercanti and his bikie mates. Mercanti’s lawyer Paul Holmes declined to comment on the pictures last night. After the court’s decision, Premier Mark McGowan said he was “disappointed” Mercanti was now allowed to mingle with outlaw gangs again. “I find the conduct of bikies inexplicable,” he said.
