Fire crews are responding to a blaze in Perth’s northern suburbs where bushland at a popular lake has gone up in flames.

Two DFES units from Osborne Park were called to Herdsman Lake just after 10.30am on Monday following multiple calls to Triple Zero from members of the public.

Emergency WA has issued a Bushfire Advice alert to residents in the Glendalough, Osborne Park, and Wembley areas due to the smoke from the blaze.

DFES confirmed the fire, which is burning through the centre island of the lake, was contained at 11.55am.

Fire crews are in talks about bringing in air support, which could provide crucial fire fighting intel into the extinguishing effort.

There is no water bomber crew on standby due to winter being a low risk period.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
