A bushfire advice has been issued for residents in Perth’s north after bushland surrounding a popular lake went up in flames on Monday morning.

Fire crews responded to a blaze at Herdsman Lake just after 10.30am following multiple Triple-0 calls from members of the public.

DFES confirmed the fire, which is burning through the centre island of the lake, was contained at 11.55am but is still not controlled.

The fire has already burnt through 19.5 hectares of land and is moving in an easterly direction.

Just before 3.30pm, Emergency WA updated their advice, telling people in an area bounded by Herdsman Lake, Selby Street North, Walters Drive, Herdsman Parade and Moondine Drive in Glendalough, Osborne Park and Wembley to stay alert.
