Police investigate suspicious house fire in Bateman

The arson squad is investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a house in Bateman overnight.

Police were out on patrol at about 1am this morning when they spotted smoke coming from a home on London Way.

Firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish the huge flames coming from the house, which is currently vacant, but it had already been destroyed.

Detectives will head to the scene later this morning to try to determine what caused the fire.
