Woman dies after train hits car in Qld
A woman is dead after a passenger train hit her car at a notorious level-crossing in Brisbane.
Paramedics fought to save the motorist but she died at the crossing, adjacent to Lindum train station at Wynnum West.
No one on the train was hurt, the ambulance service said.
Photos from the scene showed the woman's red car abutting the tracks, and debris from the car under the front of the train.
The collision happened about 1.45pm on Friday. Queensland Rail would not confirm reports the train was an express service.
Translink says services on the Cleveland line are suspended between Murarrie and Cleveland and customers can expect delays of up to an hour.
Services on the Shorncliffe line have also been affected.
People have long been demanding a safety upgrade at the intersection, which involves the rail line controlled by boom gates, and two other major roads.
