Emergency services respond to helicopter crash off Tumbar Road near Blackall

A helicopter has crashed just outside Blackall in outback Queensland, leaving the pilot fighting for life as investigators begin examining what caused the incident. Emergency services were called to the scene about 9.30am on Monday after the helicopter went down just off Tumbar Rd, a short distance outside the central western Queensland town. The pilot sustained critical injuries in the crash and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. Workplace Health and Safety authorities have been notified, with Queensland Police assisting the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
