Local GNFL umpire Brian Cohen passed a personal milestone on the weekend by officiating his 250th league match.

The clash between Chapman Valley and Towns brought up the rare achievement, becoming just one of a handful of people to reach the mark in the league.

Umpire’s adviser Steve Bradden had nothing but praise for Cohen.

“It’s been probable 15 years since Brian started, he’s officiated a lot of grand finals and country weeks,” he said at a presentation after the match.

“He always puts his heart and soul into it to get to 250 is a pretty big effort there are only four or five who have reached that milestone.

“I hope he’s got a few more years left in him.”

Cohen was given the match ball and received a warm round of applause from the crowd present.
