Geraldton lawyer Kate Fry wins Legal Aid panel member award at Attorney General’s Community Service Law Awards

Geraldton-based lawyer Kate Fry has been recognised for her outstanding commitment to supporting regional and remote clients, winning the Legal Aid panel member award at the 2025 Attorney General’s Community Service Law Awards. The prestigious annual awards held last week celebrate lawyers, law firms and community organisations that demonstrate exceptional dedication to pro bono, Legal Aid and community legal work across WA. Ms Fry, who operates her own firm in Geraldton, has spent her entire career in private practice and has served on multiple Legal Aid panels since 2016, representing clients throughout the Mid West, Pilbara and Kimberley regions. Her recognition highlights the role regional practitioners play in ensuring access to justice for people in remote parts of the State. Attorney-General Dr Tony Buti, who presented the awards at the Law Society of WA’s 2025 Gala Awards Evening, commended all winners for their community service and pro bono contributions. “On behalf of the Cook Labor Government, I congratulate this year’s lawyers and groups who volunteered considerable time to support those in need,” Dr Buti said. “It was a privilege to present these awards, and I thank all individuals and organisations for their exceptional work and outstanding contribution to our State.” The awards also recognised Dr Rob Guthrie in the individual category for his decades of work promoting access to justice, Redgum Justice in the not-for-profit category for supporting women prisoners who are victims of family and domestic violence, and law firm Lavan for its strong pro bono program.
