KNA 2025: Netball competition shake-up with team changes, new president and fresh batch of NetSetGo kids

Term two marks the start of netball season for Katanning and surrounding towns.
Katanning Netball Association has been working behind the scenes all year to get everyone back at the courts.
New president Joel Anyon has been working endlessly with KNA’s committee to prepare for many local and away competitions in all age groups throughout the season.
All divisions from juniors to seniors have a great number of teams.
Bearing the typical winter sport weather already, everyone was in their jackets and beanies bringing the Katanning Leisure and Function Centre back to life on Saturday.
NetSet had their first combined session on Saturday together.
All attendees got into the drills set out and grasped the spirit of teamwork.
Go juniors division have four Katanning teams this year along with two Kojonup teams, the first time for many of the kids in Go.
With all the dynamics of a proper team, the kids were full of energy taking court for their first game.
The juniors being the next division up for the older junior players, also started off with a great first round.
Five teams from Katanning and one from Kojonup create a nice competition for the juniors for 2025. The teams were raring to go as soon as their games were on.
Seniors filled the courts all afternoon with 17 teams across three divisions.
In the A1 competition, most teams from previous seasons have continued but Kojonup 2 have dropped out and Broomehill have come up.
As players across the board have swapped clubs or teams and divisions, A1 is already creating some on-court battles.
Allstars 1 and Kojonup 1 was the all-time battle of the day.
A replay of last season’s grand final, these two teams went goal-for-goal, with Allstars 1 pipping their rivals 59-54.
Old time rivalries Olympians 1 and Cardinals Force played each other to start their campaign, with Olympians 1 bringing in the extra force to take a comfortable win 42-26.
Te Taitonga 1 got to welcome Broomehill in a great battle.
Broomehill entered a new division with the scores not reflecting the fierce contest. TeTaitonga 1 took the win 45-19.
A2 division also had slight team alterations with Kojonup 2 now amongst the teams in an exciting move.
Already against runners-up from the previous season Allstars 2, Kojonup 2 held their own. With a close game throughout the hour, Allstars 2 managed to put their foot down and push for the win, 38-33.
It was derby round for the Olympians club with two teams in the same division this season.
Olympians 2 and Olympians 3 put their training partners to the test, but Olympians 2 were the stronger team, winning 65-23.
Dumbleyung and Te Taitonga 2 ticked off round one with a hugely contested game with the scores not reflecting how physical and fast the game was. Dumbleyung scored the win 47-28.
A3 also had their very own derby game with the Cardinals club.
Cardinals Fever got away to a fast start against Cardinals Phoenix and held firm to win 48-21.
Allstars 3 and Kojonup 3 produced nailbiting quarters, heavily contested play and low scores creating an amazing game to watch. Kojonup 3 just snuck in a couple of goals extra to win 34-32.
Sunday was an eventful day for the Set and Go aged kids.
KNA sent two teams, one for Set and one for Go, to Kojonup for the day to participate in the annual SetGo carnival.
Each child played six to eight mini games of netball.
The day started with Netball WA’s programs put in place to work with coaches and the green shirts umpiring programs.
The kids had a ball from morning until afternoon.
The weather kept everyone in check at times, still not stopping anyone from enjoying the fun-filled day.
Teams from Narrikup, Ongerup, Dumbleyung, Katanning and Kojonup filled the Kojonup courts with colourful uniforms, ribbons galore and socks of all funky colours and sizes.
Skills, teamwork and fun comes in leaps and bounds from this type of event.
