A man has disrupted mourners at the Bondi memorial and been escorted from the site by police.

The man – who claimed to be Jewish – ran into the crowd at the Bondi Pavilion, screaming just after midday.

It is unclear what he was saying at the time.

However, he was promptly surrounded by police and taken away from the crowd.

Followed by a media pack, the man later told reporters he had come to protest anti-Zionism.

“They’re pretending that Zionism is a problem, Zionism is not a problem,” he said.

”Anti Zionism is an eliminationist movement, and these councils have made it seem like it’s okay.

“Nazis are terrible. We should be fearful of Nazis always.

“But Nazis didn’t do this. Nazis didn’t do October 7. I hate Nazis. I’m a Jew.

“Of course I hate Nazis, but there’s a more imminent threat right now. It’s an anti-Zionist movement.

“People should be allowed to express their political decisions.

“But anti Zionism is not a criticism of Israel. It’s about eliminating Israel. Those are two really different things.”

He expressed support for the Jewish Australian community.

“I love these people, and I’m so sad that we all have to go through this.”

The Bondi Pavilion memorial has attracted hundreds of people every day, as people pay tribute to those killed in Sunday’s terror attacks.
