Two Blues cruise to 12th straight win and head for EGCA reserves grand final

Great Boulder are a step away from a perfect season in the Eastern Goldfields Cricket Association’s B-grade competition after a four-wicket victory over Hannans last weekend to round out the qualifiers.

The Two Blues chased down Hannans’ 129 in 32.1 overs, notching a 12th victory to remain unbeaten heading into the grand final on February 26.

After earlier grabbing 2-17, Alex Jerrard led the run chase for Great Boulder with 49 off 59 balls.

Hannans’ attack fought back to grab 3-24 after Jerrard and Branden Pyke compiled an opening partnership of 50.

However, Great Boulder cruised to 6-130 after Jake Basire and Brett Simmonds contributed 19 and 14 respectively.

Despite no margin for error defending a modest total, Hannans’ bowlers conceded 12 wides among 16 sundries.

Earlier, opener Harley Ellis led Hannans’ batting with 66.

It was a knock carved from 80 balls in 109 minutes and featured 10 boundaries.

But he lacked support, with Mason Vuleta next best with 16 off 17 balls as five Great Boulder players emerged with two wickets.

Also last weekend, Lake View compiled 24 without loss against North Kalgoorlie before the match was abandoned due to rain.

Laurence Dyer’s unbeaten 16 came off 19 balls, with three fours.

However, it was a generally long season for the Viewers, who missed out on the finals after managing just two wins.

Hannans, who finished second, play Norths in Saturday’s elimination final at Wallace Park for the other grand final spot.
