Maybe, most probably, it was to do with the weather.

It was certainly enticing to make the most popular of the three distances on offer at the Geraldton Triathlon Club’s meeting last Sunday the shortest trip, named The Enticer.

With nearly 20 athletes in the Enticer Course, it was the boys who held the top three positions, Andrew Blackburn, Shaun Campbell and Rob Grazziadelli being the first three home.

Trish Sivyer had a fast swim and lightning transitions to put her in a great position for the bike and was the first woman to finish.

Kylie and Tennessey Forrester kept close throughout all three legs, leading to an exciting sprint finish on the run. Kylie managed to pull ahead on the last 200m, beating her sister narrowly.

Only three competitors braved the middle-distance short course, Ben Lloyd spending the whole race being chased down by Brook Kimpton and Petrina Wakelem.

The women traded positions on all three legs, closing in on Lloyd on the run with Wakelem only 30 seconds behind Lloyd crossing the finish mat. Kimpton followed just seconds behind for third.

A past president took the glory in the long course. Ben Freer, of Busselton, stayed strong in each leg to beat Russell Browne and Paul Luxton. Caroline Kelly, with her fast transitions and great stamina, nipped at the heels of the boys.
