‘She clearly knew what was happening’: Woman allegedly involved in firing 30+ rounds at home while kids were inside

A woman accused of being involved in a shooting in which more than 30 rounds were sprayed into a home with four kids inside allegedly “knew what was happening”, a court has been told. Police were called to a Mount Druitt home in Sydney’s west in the early hours of May 9. A flurry of bullets was fired into a family home by an unknown gunman travelling in a dark-coloured hatchback. No one at the Frank St home was injured despite seven adults and four young children being inside at the time. Terleaha Williams-Oliver, 20, was charged over the incident after being arrested about 6am on Tuesday. She allegedly “knew what was happening” as the shooting unfolded, a court was told during her bail hearing on Wednesday morning. It is not alleged she fired any shots. “She clearly knew what was happening and was in a supportive role in the (criminal) enterprise,” the magistrate said. “To that degree it appears to me to be a strong prosecution case.” Ms Williams-Oliver’s lawyer argued her client played a minor role in the shooting and would agree to house arrest conditions in a push for her to be released on bail. However the police prosecutor claimed releasing her posed an unacceptable risk, disagreeing that Ms Williams-Oliver played a minor role. Ms Williams-Oliver will remain behind bars until at least February after the magistrate refused her bail application. “The circumstances of this case, I am not satisfied that there are bail conditions that can ameliorate the bail concerns that arise, namely the safety of the community and the commission of further offence,” the magistrate said. “For those reasons I am refusing bail.” Ms Williams-Oliver will next front court in February at Penrith. She is facing charges of firearm at a dwelling etc organised criminal activity, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and possess unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm. Two men were also charged over the incident and remain before the courts.
