Brookton police urgently appeal to public after a triple-vehicle theft in the region over the holiday period

Brookton police are on the hunt for car thieves following the theft of three vehicles over the holiday period. Investigations are ongoing as police seek public assistance to locate two of the three missing vehicles stolen between December 24 and January 7, having recovered the third. The first vehicle taken in the string of robberies was a 1992 Toyota Landcruiser TTOP, reported stolen from a farm near Wilkinson Road in Kweda. The vehicle is described as beige-coloured with a makeshift fire suppression IBC container on the back, and a portable farm GPS inside. The Landcruiser is believed to have been taken from the farm between December 24, 2025, and January 5, 2026. Around the same time, owners of a 1995 Nissan Patrol utility were shocked to find their vehicle missing from their farm near Davis Road in Brookton. The perpetrator is believed to have cut the fences leading into the farming property. Police believe the theft occurred between January 2 and 7. The owners described the Patrol, registration 1HIF 477, as “unique looking” with a stretched chassis and equipped with a fire unit and fire-rated clothing inside at the time of the theft. Police discovered the fire tank formerly attached to the Patrol on Brookton-Corrigin Road alongside the fire suppression equipment, which was severely damaged. However, the vehicle is yet to be found. The third stolen vehicle, a silver Toyota Kluger station sedan, was stolen from the Brookton townsite on January 6 or 7 between the hours of 9pm and 5.30am. Police recovered the vehicle later that day located near Dale Kokeby Road in Kokeby. Brookton police officer-in-charge Sgt Geoff Pritchard said that police were actively investigating all matters, but haven’t yet established if the offences are connected. Sgt Pritchard urged the public to reinforce property security. “One of our strategies is seeking the publics assistance in locating the vehicles and identifying people that can assist in our investigations,” he said. “We would like to remind the broader community to be vigilant and ensure their private and farming assets are secure at all times from theft and where possible trackable through various available devices, i.e. air tags. “Consider the lawful installation of CCTV surveillance to monitor property boundary lines.”
