People in the shire of West Arthur have been warned as a fire burns in western parts of Trigwell.

Bushfire advice has been issued for people in an area bounded by Trigwell Bridge Road to the east, West Tree Gully Road to the south, Wheeler Road to the west, and Muja Conservation Park to the north.

The fire was reported at 1.39pm on Wednesday, April 24, and an alert was issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services at 9.25am on Thursday.

By 4.30pm on Thursday, the fire was contained but not controlled, and several roads in the area had been closed, including Sandalwood Road between Trigwell Bridge Road and Wheeler Road.

The Bush Fire Service, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions firefighters, and farmer response units are in attendance and firefighters are working to strengthen containment lines.
