Upper Great Southern Cricket Association under-14 side winless at junior Country Week

The Upper Great Southern Cricket Association under-14 B-section side failed to win a game at the annual junior Country Week tournament in Perth last week.

The side lost all five of their matches throughout the week to finish at the bottom of their pool standings.

In round two they went down by 210 to Eastern Goldfields at College Park on Tuesday.

Eastern Goldfields posted 4-266 from 40 overs, with Riley Logan making 100 not out, while Curtis Hull took 2-16 for Uppers.

In reply, Uppers were bowled out for 56 as Cameron Sutherland top-scored with 34.

In round three at Jubilee Reserve on Wednesday, West Pilbara won by 61.

West Pilbara made 161 batting first, with Mitchell Johnstone claiming 3-25 and was well supported by Alby Stanton (2-11) and Chase Parsons (2-27).

Uppers showed positive signs in the run chase but were bowled out for 100, with Lucas Whitaker top-scoring with 22.

On Thursday, the Uppers played in two T20 fixtures but went down in both.

They lost their first fixture by six wickets to Esperance at Gwynne Park in round four.

Upper Great Southern made 7-65 batting first, with Sutherland leading the way with an unbeaten 25.

Esperance passed the total one wicket down and went on to post 4-88 as Ethan Ewen snared 2-6.

In round five, Uppers again lost by six wickets despite the best efforts of Sutherland against Peel Blue.

Sutherland made 39 while Johnstone added 13 as they made 6-75 batting first.

In reply, Peel Blue fell to 4-48 but recovered to post 4-98 from their 20 overs.

Uppers finished their campaign with a 92-run loss to Peel Blue at Coker Park Oval on Friday.

Peel Blue made 9-168 batting first from their 50 overs with Sutherland (2-4), Xavier Ballard (2-23) and Hull (2-32) snaring multiple wickets.

Uppers were bowled out for 76 in reply, with Johnstone the only batter making double figures after finishing with 18 at the top of the order.

Sutherland was the Uppers leading run scorer with 114, while Hull was their leading wicket taker with seven scalps for the week.
