A South Hedland house has caught on fire two times in one night forcing emergency personnel to come out twice

The same fire has ignited two times within 12 hours at a South Hedland home with emergency services forced to come out twice to extinguish the blaze. South Hedland volunteer fire and rescue services were called out just after 5 pm on Monday, July 17 to respond to a fire at a house at Corbet Place, South Hedland. A DEFES spokesperson said the homeowner was awakened by their smoke alarm after a fire had ignited in the living room and they then called triple-0 immediately. The spokesperson said that when emergency services arrived they “could see flames inside the house and that they engulfed the property,” with police and ambulance services also at the scene. The initial fire was contained by 7:15 pm but emergency services were recalled to the scene at 4:15 the following day after the fire had reignited in the house. A DEFES spokesperson said that house fire reignitions could occur and that the incident wasn’t necessarily suspicious. “When there is that much heat in any structure a reignition can occur,” they said. The second blaze was contained by emergency service personnel early in the morning of July 18 with no serious injuries occurring from either incident.
