Aquatic centre on the agenda

Taylar AmoniniNorth West Telegraph

The Town of Port Hedland council will hold a special council meeting today.

At the September ordinary council meeting last week, councillors unanimously agreed to host a special council meeting to address the works needed on the aquatic centre.

At the special council meeting, councillors will determine whether to award the tender of the South Hedland Aquatic Centre Renewal Works. The South Hedland Aquatic Centre closed in September 2016 because of filtration issues and health concerns.

At the beginning of September a request for tender was released, which closed on September 22.

Officers recommended the council hold the special meeting in an effort to ensure works can begin as soon as possible to reopen the aquatic centre for the summer. The meeting will be held in the Civic Centre Council Chambers at 5:30pm.
