Students from Cassia, Baler, and Port Hedland pedalled to school last week in a convoy to celebrate National Bike Week.

Local police were on-hand to conduct safety checks on bicycles and teach youngsters the rules surrounding bike safety on Monday, March 19.

Teachers also conducted safety awareness lessons in classrooms throughout the week.

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said it was fantastic to see the schools becoming involved.

He said the events planned allowed the community to enjoy the fun and adventure of bike riding around Port Hedland. “This series of events is a great opportunity to celebrate Bike Week, have fun and get fit all at the same time,” he said.

Community members can also participate in free daily RPM or sprint classes at Wan-angkura Stadium in South Hedland from today until Sunday.
