Boulevard opens it’s HeartKids

A Newman pharmacy is raising money to help children with heart disease.

Boulevard Pharmacy set up a donation page last week to raise money for HeartKids Australia, an organisation which offers assistance to families.

The money raised will be donated as part of the pharmacy’s contribution to the 2017 SweetHeart Day event on February 14, with staff wearing pink and red and offering free blood pressure tests.

Boulevard Pharmacy retail manager Tamara Heeney said it was the first time the store had set up a fundraising website, hoping it would make it easier to donate without having to visit the pharmacy, and to allow people to receive a tax receipt.

HeartKids Australia State manager Cecilia said without the support of regional communities, the charity would not be able to provide many of its services to families.

“The funds raised via the community for Sweetheart Day allows us to provide support services ... in remote areas,” she said.

HeartKids raised $20,000 in WA last year and aims to top that by at least $15,000 this year.
