Bushfire alert for Aboriginal Community

A bushfire advice has been issued for people living in and near the Woodstock Aboriginal Community, 145km south of Port Hedland.

The bushfire is moving slowly in a south easterly direction with firefighters from the The Town of Port Hedland and emergency service officers from the local mine site are on the scene actively fighting the fire.

The Department of Emergency Services said there is no threat to lives or homes, however there is a lot of smoke in the area.

Locals are advices to stay alert, monitor their surroundings and keep all doors and windows closed.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area if possible and reduce their speeds.
