The City of Nedlands is calling on artists across the Pilbara to enter the Youth Art Awards.

With a $2000 prize pool up for grabs, the awards are open to people aged 12 to 25 for artworks using print, photography, painting or drawing.

City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said the awards were a chance for young people to be creative.

“It’s an asset that should be nurtured and encouraged to grow naturally, helped by our strong facilitation role that helps to support and develop creative expression,” he said.

The open award category, open to the wider West Australian population, closes on July 30.

There will be an award exhibition on August 19.
