Caretaker period policy vote

North West Telegraph

Amended guidelines for council operations for the 37 days in the lead-up to local elections are to be decided on by councillors today after 5.30pm.

The new caretaker period policy has been tabled by Town of Port Hedland officers, who say it will “strengthen the current policy to ensure (the) council does not make major decisions ... that would bind an incoming council”. The policy also aim to prevent “elected members using public resources in ways that would be seen as advantageous and to ensure Town officers act impartially in relation to candidates”.

The Town of Port Hedland ordinary council meeting is set to start at 5.30pm at the council chambers in McGregor Street. Visit porthedland.wa.gov.au for the full agenda.
