The music of pop culture icon David Bowie will feature in a unique stage show at South Hedland’s Matt Dann Theatre next month, celebrating the life’s work of one the world’s most prolific artists. Hosted by Rebel, a circus tribute band, the night will bring glam rock to the mining town in a spectacular live show fusing music, acrobatics and comedy. Rebel is headlined by multiple award-winner Stewart Reeve, who brings Bowie’s, pictured, canon of work to stages across the country. They form part of Highwire Entertainment, a circus and multi-artform troupe championing non-traditional venues and artistic crafts. Mayor Peter Carter encouraged local residents to go along to the show. “Bowie needs no introduction: with a career spanning more than half a century that continues to shape global pop culture to this day, the Rebel stage show fuses Bowie’s hits with live- action theatrics to leave you dancing in the street,” he said. “Make sure you secure your tickets so you and your friends can re-live the golden years.” One of the most influential performers of our time, Bowie sold more than 100 million records worldwide across his 50-year career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. The Hedland performance has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts.
